Oxygen Sensors (Short term 6 week Implantation)

Tethered

Request Price

Our Polymer coated Oxygen Sensor allows for 4-6 weeks of sustained, stable oxygen measurements once implanted. This will provide measurements of brain tissue oxygen in any target area.

We also have a Carbon Paste Oxygen Sensor which allows for longer periods (>6 months) of continuous recording.

Selectivity:
Due to its abundance and the voltage at which oxygen gets reduced (-650 mV in our system), selectivity is not an issue and the signal from interfering compounds is negligible.

Sensitivity:
Dissolved oxygen can be measured reliably over the full physiological range. The sensitivity of our electrodes is approximately -1.15 nA/µM dissolved oxygen with a detection limit of ~0.1μM. Each sensor is calibrated individually encompassing the physiological concentration of tissue oxygen in brain (50µM). The response time to changes in oxygen concentration is immediate (<1 sec).

Size:
The oxygen sensor consists of a teflon coated platinum wire with an external diameter of 125μm. The total electrode length can be customised according to your needs and depending on the depth of the target brain area. A standard length is 3-4cm.

Application:
This oxygen sensor is designed for implantation in the brain by stereotaxic surgery. Based on the principles of constant potential amperometry, at constant potential is delivered to the oxygen sensor by means of a potentiostat.

The sensor can be used for standard tethered recordings which are useful for pharmacological profiling and other experiments were extended animal movement is not necessary.

Price:
Euro 95 / electrode. (Reference and auxiliary electrode are required as well, Euro 50 each).
